Philippine Olympic Committee chairman and Tagaytay City Mayor Abraham Tolentino announced on Monday that Olympians Margielyn Didal and EJ Obiena will lead the Philippine delegation in the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
Tolentino made the announcement during the send-off for athletes bound for the Asian Games at the Philippine International Convention Center.
Skateboarder Didal was one of the four gold medalists of the Philippines in the 2018 Asian Games.
Pole vaulter Obiena, meanwhile, claimed the silver medal in the World Athletics Championships in Budapest last August and still holds the Asian record for the sport at 6.00 meters.
Almost 500 athletes, including para athletes, are heading to Hangzhou for the Asian Games.
