The huge population and it flowing to the major cities is what saved the Philippines. By focusing social resource into the cities, this has provided the best usage of government funds and employment.

A few years ago, your thesis was right. As a Catholic nation, the average children per family then was about 5 to 9 children. With the passage of the reproductive law in PH a few years ago, most family planning methods used in developed countries became the preferred methods to tame the PH population growth rate from about 3% to about 1% currently. Although there are still problems in a few areas. The overpopulation problem though gave rise to the export of labor phenomenon in PH or the eventual migration of highly skilled Filipinos to other countries. This also gave rise to the BPO phenomenon ( Business Processes Outsourcing ) in the country utilizing the competitive wages of high skilled Filipinos still living in the country.
The migration of farm workers to urban areas in PH is caused by the low incomes in the farms compared to the cities. The current administration goals to increase farm productivity and eventual farm incomes may alleviate this problem. Regardless of whether these two phenomena ( labor export and BPO ) are blessings in disguise, they may continue in the future as long as there aging populations and/or negative population growth rates in developed countries worldwide.

For me Overpopulation is not an issue, as long as our PH Goverment provide best services mostly Education & Skilled trainings the Philippines is known as Human Capital OFW that contribute large number of our economy.. Be Proud to be Filipino's, Lets conquer the World hahahaha..

Our total land area is actually more than three pled the supposed 300,000 square kilometers…
We are actually one of the biggest Country entire the globe..

It's overcrowding not overpopulation. Lots of people stay in manila hoping for a good life but sadly no jobs and lots of people got stranded there. And they multiplied
"Go and Multiply" many believed them before, also they stop the use of contraceptives like condom, as a result there is overpopulation, for them to export OFWs 😔
For my opinion, the problem of overcrowded in the city of manila because of educating their children to go there and make a fortune rather than become a farmer just like their parent or something on the line.

In my opinion, overpopulation problem in the Philippines is caused by 2 aspects: Political and Religious environment. In politics, sadly bureaucracy system is major issue here since corrupt politicians gain support from uneducated and gullible masses/public since this kind of people carelessly bear much unwanted children which they keep depending on public servants for any provisions in life were politicians in exchange gather support for aiding the masses. In Religous emvironment, also sadly still hold conservative beliefs among religous organization(Catholic church, Protestant and Independent ministries)that "Go forth and multiply" teaching is normal living for people without careful assesment in life. Also negatively teaches that reproductive health program is an oppressive way to solve social crisis since the government and upper class people will always be pointed liable for poverty issues. In the end, lack of reproductive health program implementation(like Family planning)is the reason why overpopulation problem still persists in the Philippines😔😔😔
